The mentoring Programme for the National Diploma Management students.

The National Management Diploma Department have initiated a mentoring/module support programme for the first year in their programme. Mentoring is the process of guiding and facilitating a less experienced person to achieve growth and reach their potential. This programme is about helping new students to learn from their experiences and is a supportive, friendly, caring and structured programme that focuses on the needs of the mentored student and is based on encouragement, constructive comments, openness, mutual trust, respect and a willingness to learn and share.

As a department we are proactively reaching out to our first-year students by offering support through the mentoring programme. In partnership with Centre for Teaching and Learning and Media (CTLM) we will:

  1. Provide first years with support they need in their first year at university
  2. Help to reduce their stress levels so as to cope with demands of tertiary education and
  3. Contribute towards first years increasing their chances of being academically successful

This support is not only about helping to cope with the demands of tertiary studies; it is also about developing first years so that they can become more employable. The Management Mentoring Programme will help first years to achieve their goals. It will also assist with ensuring first year students have a positive and solid first year experience.
